From the height of wisdom we receive grace,/ you who are in temptation stand, O all-honored ones./ Moreover, the holy damsel was delivered from the bitter death // for you truly are the glory of Edes and joy to the world.
Oh, glory to the martyr Guria, Samona and Aviva! To you, as a quick helper and a warm prayer book, we, weak and unworthy, come running, earnestly begging: do not despise us, who have fallen into many iniquities and continue to sin all the days and hours: guide the erring on the right path, heal the suffering and mourning; Keep us in an immaculate and chaste life, and as in ancient times, so today, remain the patronage of marriages, in love and like-mindedness, this affirming and from all evil and calamitous circumstances liberating. Oh, holy martyrs and confessors of Christ Guria, Samona and Aviva! Memorial Day November 15/28
They suffered martyrdom for Christ in the Syrian city of Edessa and, after their death, saved the pious Euphemia from death, who married a barbarian warrior and suffered a lot from his unjust oppression. They are revered as heavenly helpers in various family needs, especially when a husband unfairly persecutes and hates his wife.
