From a young age he entered the Kiev Pechersk Monastery. Having become jealous of his exploits, he fell into disobedience to the abbot and into demonic delusion, but through the prayers of the elders the Lord returned him to the truth, and St. Nikita was delivered from the evil spirit. Then he was installed as a bishop in Novgorod, where with his fiery preaching and holy life he earned the love of the people and performed many miracles: he saved the city from a fire, and through prayer brought down rain from the sky in a dry year. From the incorruptible relics of St. Nikita there were many healings, mainly of people with eyes and blind people.
