On August 3, Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky visited the children’s health camp “Firefly” in the Nikolaevsky district of the Ulyanovsk region, where an Orthodox session for children and teenagers takes place.

The Bishop met with the director of “Firefly” Nikolai Kosayev, camp staff and the spiritual father of the Orthodox shift, Priest Maxim Pichugin. The curator of the department of religious education and catechesis, Priest Nikolai Gensitsky, was present at the meeting.

Metropolitan Longin, Father Nikolai and Father Maxim attended the ceremony honoring the teams of the “Firefly” camp, which took 1st place in the football competition “Battle of the Camps - 2026” and 1st place in the volleyball competition. The camp director noted that this was an important event for Firefly, since for a long time the teams had not taken first place in such competitions.

The Orthodox shift is taking place in the Svetlyachok camp for the first time (last year, for the first time, the Orthodox shift was held in the Itil sanatorium in the Zavolzhsky district of Ulyanovsk). It will last from June 18 to August 7.
