200th Anniversary of the Battle of Kastanitsatranslated

Today, Sunday, August 2, 200 years since the victorious battle of the Greek Kastanitsians against Ibrahim (1826), the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Mantineia and Kynouria Mr. Epifanios attended the commemoration events in the traditional village of Kastanitsa Kynouria, one of the most historic and picturesque settlements in Arcadia, known for its special Tsakonian architecture and rich cultural inheritance. Metropolitan Mr. Epiphanios performed the Orthro and the Divine Liturgy at the parish Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, flanked by the High Priestly Commissioner Astros and vicar of I. N. Agios Nikolaos Astros Protopr. Fr. Panagiotis Kouros, who draws his origin from the village, the new vicar of the parish Fr. Konstantinos Legourdas and the deacon of the Metropolis Fr. Alexios Zarzani.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan attended the unveiling of a tombstone with the names of the fallen Kastanitsios and performed a memorial service.
