He also explained the deep significance of the cross in the life of Christians, showing that although in ancient times it was an instrument of torture, through the sacrifice of Christ, it became a source of salvation. "Our Savior accepted to suffer in order to free us from the slavery of death and the devil and to give us the grace and strength to remain in constant communion with God," the prelate said.
