The Serbian Army honored the patron saint of Saint Stephentranslated

On the occasion of the feast of St. Stephen the Exalted (Lazarević), patron of the Serbian Army, His Eminence Bishop of Liplian Mr. Dositeios presided over the Divine Liturgy on August 1, 2026, at the Holy Church of St. Mark the Apostle in Belgrade, which from 2023, by decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Serbia, it has the status of a military temple. In the same year, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in Serbia decided that the patron saint of the Serbian Army will be Saint Stephen the Exalted.

"It is not by chance that he was chosen as the patron saint of our Army. In his personality, we find what is sometimes wrongly separated in the world: deep faith and great courage, prayer and responsibility, the sword and the Gospel, love for God and love for the Motherland," said Bishop Dositheos to officers of all branches of the Serbian Armed Forces gathered in the Holy Church of St. Marku, among whom were the Minister of Defence, Mr. Bratislava Gasic, and the Chief of the General Staff, General Milan Moisilovic.
