Meeting of the Minister of Education with the new Board of Directors of the KEG - The focus is on the new national strategy for the Greek language, the strengthening of Greek language education abroad and the upgrading of the Greek Language Certification A new, particularly important period for the protection, teaching and dissemination of the Greek language internationally, begins with the assumption of duties by the new Board of Directors of the Greek Language Center.

On Wednesday July 22, 2026, the first official working meeting of the Minister of Education, Religion and Sports, Sofia Zaharakis, with the members of the Center's new administration took place in Athens, with a parallel online connection to Thessaloniki.

The new Board of Directors includes distinguished academics, professors of Philology and Linguistics and personalities of international scientific prestige, mainly from the Philosophical Schools of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Lenka SvobodováIt is good that they mainly involved professors from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Athens in the council. Greek is really the living connector, as they write, and when I saw how our young people in the diaspora learn the certificate, it makes sense. I hope it will also help our small Orthodox community here in Pilsen, where we sometimes sing in Greek at church services.
