The feast of Saint Panteleimon in Spinalongatranslated

On the afternoon of Sunday 26 and the morning of Monday 27 July, Rev. Metropolitan of Petra and Herronissos Mr. Gerasimos presided over the Holy Masses at the Holy Pilgrimage Church of Agios Panteleimonos Spinalonga. This year there were also thousands of pilgrims, addressing whom His Holiness underlined: "If we listen to all those messages that every stone and every building of this island conveys to us, we will hear the groans of all those people who were hosted here for decades. Their only consolation was this church. Their only hope was the candle they lit in Saint Panteleimon. And Saint Panteleimon, who as long as he lived was next to everyone who needed him, was next to these people. Their life, their consolation, their hope was this temple, where they deposited their pain in the healing Saint."

After the Divine Liturgy of the day of the same name, His Eminence performed trisago in front of the island's Osteology, where the remains of the lepers who slept on the island during the operation of the Leprosy Hospital (1903-1957) are kept.
