Metropolitan of Piraeus: "The Virgin Mary is the one who unites heaven and earth"translated

Yesterday, Monday, August 4, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Piraeus, Mr. Seraphim, officiated at the Vespers and the Prayer Rule to the Blessed Virgin held in the Holy Church of Agios Demetrius, Piraeus, who also preached the Divine Word. His Holiness, initially, referred to the Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary of Blacherna, which is "enthroned for eternity" in the Church of Agios Demetrius, Piraeus, and recalls the great miracle of the appearance of Theotokos in the Church of the Evangelistria, Piraeus, during the Holy Vigil of 24th to 25th March 1929, noting the lasting protection of the Virgin to the local Church, repeating, as he characteristically said, "the miracle that her Grace had performed in the Paniero Church of Blacherna in Constantinople".

His Holiness also emphasized that the entire month of August is a month dedicated to the Virgin Mary, as the Church honors her glorious Dormition and Transfiguration, the Nine Days and the Deposition of the Holy Belt, inviting the faithful to a journey of spiritual preparation and prayer.
