The feast of Saint Neomartyros Christos of Prevezatranslated

With splendor the Holy Metropolis of Nikopolis and Preveza celebrated the new martyr Christos, a native of Preveza, who was martyred on the island of Kos in the year 1668, in the homonymous church of the city on August 4 and 5, 2026. The evening of Tuesday was Vespers, officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nicopolis and Preveza Mr. Chrysostomos, who preached the divine word, referring to the life of the saint and the importance of martyrdom in the Church.

On the morning of August 5, 2026, His Holiness officiated at the Holy Church with the participation of many priests. The ministry of the word was undertaken by the Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis, Fr. Simon Demogerontas, focusing his speech on the lessons derived from the life of the saint for today, that is, self-denial and confession of faith, fundamental elements for every person who struggles in the spiritual arena for life in Christ.

The celebration of our local saint was attended, among others, by the Mayor of Preveza, Mr. Nikolaos Georgakos, the General Secretary of the Municipality of Preveza, Mr. Ioannis Vergos, the Director of Primary Education of Preveza, Mr. Ilias Michalis, as well as representatives of the city's institutions.
