Anthimos of Alexandroupolis: As long as we are focused on Christ, we can overcome trialstranslated

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, the Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis, Mr. Anthimos, presided over the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos Lykofis, with the participation of clergy and a large number of believers. The local government was represented by the Mayor of Soufli, Mr. Panagiotis Kalakikos. In his sermon, on the occasion of the gospel passage of the day, Metropolitan Mr. Anthimos referred to the power of living faith and absolute trust in God. Interpreting the incident of the Apostle Peter walking on the waves, he emphasized that as long as man keeps his eyes fixed on Christ, he can overcome even the greatest trials of life. Conversely, when fear and doubt prevail, then our trust in divine providence is shaken.

With the beginning of the month of August and the period of fasting leading up to the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he invited the faithful to use this blessed period as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, through prayer, participation in the Holy Supplications, confession, forgiveness and more frequent participation in the Holy Eucharist.
