First pastoral visit of the Metropolitan of Accra to Gyaha Communitytranslated

Today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Accra Mr. Daniel, accompanied by three priest educators of the Holy Metropolis, made his first pastoral visit to the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Community of the village of Gyaha, in the Eastern Region of Ghana, which is about four hours by car from the capital Accra.

His Eminence's arrival at the village took place in accordance with traditional Ghanaian etiquette. The visit began with an official reception at the Palace of the Local Chief, where the Chief of the area, Gerontia and the dignitaries of the community welcomed him with special honors. During the cordial meeting, greetings were exchanged and the common desire was expressed for the continuation of the cordial cooperation between the Orthodox Church and the local society for the benefit of the residents of the area.

The village is dominated by the Holy Church of the Nativity of Christ, which was built twenty years ago with the generous donation of the Brotherhood of the Orthodox Foreign Mission of Thessaloniki, which for decades has lovingly and consistently supported the missionary work of the Orthodox Church in Ghana.…
