The Holy Diocese of Ierapytni and Sitia issued her written sermon to the faithful people, for the Sunday of St. Matthew, stressing that in the turbulent sea of life, the faithful must know that the purpose of trials is our spiritual benefit. The sermon in detail:

My beloveds, Jesus, after the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand men, which we heard last Sunday, "forced his disciples to get into the boat and go to wait for him on the opposite shore, until he dismissed the crowds. After dismissing them, he went up the mountain alone to pray. When evening came, he was alone there. In the meantime, the boat was already in the middle of the lake and was being tossed by the waves, because the wind was contrary. At dawn, Jesus came to them walking on the lake. The disciples, when they saw him walking on the lake, were frightened; they said that he was a ghost and raised their voices from their fear. Immediately, however, Jesus spoke to them and said: "Courage! It is I; do not be afraid." Peter answered him: "Lord, if it really is you, command me to come to you walking on the water." And he said to him: "Come". He then got off the ship...
