July 31: St. Joseph of Arimathea and St. Eudocimos are celebratedtranslated

Today, July 31, our Holy Orthodox Church honors the memory of Saint Joseph of Arimathea, the nocturnal disciple of Christ who, together with Nicodemus, buried the body of Jesus Christ in the empty monument that he offered to the God-man Redeemer. Also, today we celebrate the collection of the holy relics of the holy apostle Philip, i.e. their transfer from Hierapolis in Phrygia and their deposit in a temple in Cyprus, which bears his name.

Today, we also celebrate the inauguration of the Monastery of Panagia of Blacherna as well as the pre-holidays of the Advancement of the Holy Cross, which, from August 1st, is lit up in all the parishes of Eptalofou City, so that the faithful Christians may be blessed and draw strength, as well as with the blessing of the Holy Cross to be freed from every epidemic and disease.

We also honor the memory of Saint Eudokimus the righteous, who came from Cappadocia and lived in the 9th century AD. Having received a Christian upbringing from his parents Basilio and Evdokia, the Saint was a model of virtue from his childhood.
