Unforgettable Cretan evening in the courtyard of the I. Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios Ierapetratranslated

A special evening with traditional Cretan music and dance was enjoyed by those present at the event organized on the evening of Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in the crowded forecourt of the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios Ierapetra, by the Fundraising Committee for the Maintenance and Restoration of the Holy Church of Agios Spyridon Ierapetra, with the support of the Region of Crete. The band of Manolis Kontaros entertained the audience until late at night, providing a unique evening of fun and dancing. The acclaimed Chanio artist performed traditional Cretan songs in a unique and authentic way, including Erotokritos by Vicenzou Kornaros, and closed the evening with a traditional Chanio song. The lyre, the two lutes, the tuberleki, the wind instruments (the flute and the ascomandura) impressed the audience, while the children's dance group of the Cultural, Folklore and Dance Association "The Cretan Dance" gave a special color to the evening with its traditional dances.
