July 29: Saint Kallinikos is celebratedtranslated

Today, Tuesday, July 29, our Holy Church honors the memory of the holy martyr Kallinikos, who came from Cilicia in Asia Minor and was distinguished for the eloquence and zeal with which he spread the Holy Gospel. While teaching the Christian faith in Egypt, he was captured by the pagans and brought to the ruler Sacerdon, who, first with enticing words and then with terrible tortures, tried to convince him that the gods of the Roman empire were true.

Finally, due to his resistance to the pagan temptations of the ruler and his firm Christian confession, Kallinikos threw himself into the fire, where he surrendered his spirit to Jesus Christ.

Also, today we honor the memory of Saint Theodotis and her three sons, who emerged as an example of a holy family and became models of heroism and unwavering faith.
