Similar to the previous two in relation to presbyters, bishops and metropolitans in relation to their patriarch. If any of the bishops begins to preach heretical teaching, then other clergy and clergy are obliged to immediately separate from the underlying bishop, metropolitan and patriarch.
What is determined about presbyters, bishops and metropolitans is all the more befitting of patriarchs. Therefore, the Holy Council determined: if any presbyter, bishop or metropolitan dares to break off communion with his patriarch and does not lift up his name during the Divine Mystery according to a certain and established order, but before the conciliar decision and final condemnation of the patriarch he initiates a schism, then he must be completely deprived of every degree of priesthood, if only he is convicted of this iniquity.
However, this statement and definition applies to those who, under the pretext of some crimes, defect from their leaders and create schisms, destroying the unity of the Church. After all, those who separate themselves from communion with their primate because of some heresy condemned by the Holy Councils or the Fathers (if he publicly preaches heresy and openly teaches it in churches), not only are not subject to the penance prescribed by the rules for the fact that before the conciliar decree they protected themselves from communion with the said bishop, but are also worthy of the honor due to the Orthodox. And indeed, they condemned not bishops, but false bishops and false teachers, and did not dissect the unity of the Church by schism, but tried to rid the Church of schisms and divisions.
