The fact that the above anathemas are not an obstacle to ascetics, but only correct those who exalt themselves and introduce something new, contrary to Holy Scripture and Tradition.
We write this to reject not those who want to strive in the Church of God according to the Scriptures, but those who make asceticism a reason for pride, rise above those who live simpler than them and introduce innovations contrary to the Scriptures and church rules. So, we admire virginity, combined with humility, and abstinence, observed with holiness and piety, is acceptable, and we approve of withdrawal from worldly cares, performed with humility, and we respect honest marriage, and we do not despise wealth associated with justice and charity, and we praise modesty and simplicity of clothing, serving only to take care of the body, from excesses We also turn away from luxuries in clothing, and we honor the houses of God, and willingly participate in the meetings that are held there as holy and useful, not because we practice piety in houses, but because we honor every place built in the name of God, and we approve of the meeting in the Church of God as serving for the common benefit, and we applaud the generous benefits of the brothers, which, according to tradition, they provide to the poor through the Church, and, in short, we want the Church to have everything taught by the Divine Scriptures and apostolic traditions.
