Against the heresy of Pelagius. About anathema to those who reject the need for baptism of infants or those who deny baptism for them for the remission of sins.
It was pleasing: anyone who denies the need for baptism of small and recently born babies from the mother’s womb or says that although they are baptized for the remission of sins, they did not borrow anything from the sin of the progenitor Adam that should be cleansed by the bath of regeneration (and from this it follows that the image of baptism for the remission of sins in this case is considered not true, but imaginary), let him be anathema. After all, the words of the Apostle: Just as by one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, so death spread to all men, because all sinned (Rom. 5:12) should be understood no differently than they have always been understood by the Catholic Church, which has spread everywhere and filled everything. According to this rule of faith, infants who themselves cannot yet commit any sin are truly baptized for the remission of sins, in order to purify in them by rebirth what they have received by origin.
