On the procedure for conducting a trial initiated as a result of a complaint against a bishop.
If any of the bishops is accused, let the accuser present the case before the leaders in the same area, and let the accused not be disfellowshipped, unless, having received messages inviting him to answer in court before the elected judges, he does not appear at all on a certain day, namely, within the appointed month from the day on which he received the messages. If he presents some truthful and convincing reasons that prevent him from appearing to justify himself in the charges brought against him, let him have the inviolable right to justify himself within another 1 month, and after the expiration of the 2nd month, let him be deprived of communication until he proves his innocence. If he does not want to appear at the general annual Council, so that at least there his work will be brought to an end, then it will be considered that he pronounced a verdict of guilt against himself. And while he is deprived of fellowship, let him be a stranger to him both in his church and in the parish. His accuser, if he has not gone anywhere during the days when the circumstances of the case are being examined, should not be deprived of communication in any way. But if the accuser goes somewhere and hides, then let him be deprived of communion, and the bishop will be restored to communion. At the same time, the prosecutor is not deprived of the opportunity to make an accusation in this case if he can prove within the appointed time that he did not appear not because he did not want to, but because he could not. However, it is obvious that if, when considering the circumstances of the case in the court of bishops, the face of the accuser is discredited, then he is not allowed to bring charges, unless he wants to consider a private case, and not a church one.
