On excommunication from church communion of convicted clerics who will appeal to the Roman Throne.
It was decided: if presbyters, deacons and other lower clergy complain about the courts of their bishops due to litigation they have, let neighboring bishops listen to them, and disputes between them, with the consent of their own bishop, are settled by the bishops invited by them. Therefore, if they want to appeal against the decision of these judges, let them appeal not to the courts on the other side of the sea, but to the superior ones of their metropolitan regions, which has been repeatedly determined for bishops. And those who appeal to the courts on the other side of the sea are not accepted into fellowship by anyone in Africa.

Ὁμοίως ἤρεσεν, ἵνα οἱ πρεσβύτεροι, καὶ οἱ διάκονοι, καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ κατώτεροι κληρικοί, ἐν αἷς ἔχουσιν αἰτίαις, ἐὰν τὰ δικαστήρια μέμφωνται τῶν ἰδίων ἐπισκόπων, οἱ γείτονες ἐπίσκοποι ἀκροάσωνται αὐτῶν, καὶ μετὰ συναινέσεως τοῦ ἰδίου ἐπισκόπου, τὰ μεταξὺ αὐτῶν διαθῶσιν οἱ προσκαλούμενοι παρ᾽ αὐτῶν ἐπίσκοποι. Διό, εἰ καὶ περὶ αὐτῶν ἔκκλητον παρέχειν νομίσωσι, μὴ ἐκκαλέσωνται εἰς τὰ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης δικαστήρια, ἀλλὰ πρὸς τοὺς πρωτεύοντας τῶν ἰδίων ἐπαρχιῶν, ὡς καὶ περὶ τῶν ἐπισκόπων πολλάκις ὥρισται. Οἱ δὲ πρὸς περαματικὰ δικαστήρια διεκκαλούμενοι, παρ᾽ οὐδενὸς ἐν τῇ Ἀφρικῇ δεχθῶσιν κοινωνίαν.[1]
