On the desirability of presbyters to allow excommunicated persons who are near death, with the blessing of the bishop.
If someone, finding himself in danger, asks to reconcile himself with the sacred altar in the absence of the bishop, then the presbyter, as he should, should ask the bishop about this and then, by his order, reconcile the person in danger.

Αὐρήλιος ἐπίσκοπος εἶπεν· Ἐάν τις ἐν κινδύνῳ καθεστώς, αἱτησῃ ἑαυτὸν καταλλαγῆναι τοῖς ἱεροῖς θυσιαστηρίοις, τοῦ ἐπισκόπου ἀπόντος, ὀφείλει εἰκότως ὁ πρεσβύτερος ἐρωτῆσαι τὸν ἐπίσκοπον, καὶ οὕτω τὸν ἐν κινδύνῳ καταλλάξαι κατὰ τὴν ἐκείνου παραγγελίαν· τοῦτο δὲ τὸ πρᾶγμα ὀφείλομεν σωτηριώδει βουλῇ κυρῶσαι. Ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἐπισκόπων ἐλέχθη· Ἀρέσκει ὅπερ ἡ ὑμετέρα ἁγιωσύνη ἀναγκαίως ἡμᾶς ὠφελῆσαι κατηξίωσεν.
