On the acceptance of repentant Donatist clergy into the clergy in their degrees of priesthood.
It was pleasing to send to our brothers and co-bishops, and first of all to the apostolic see, which is headed by the aforementioned venerable brother and fellow minister Anastasius - since he knows that Africa is in great need - letters to the effect that, for the sake of the peace and benefit of the Church and from the Donatists themselves, any clergy who, having corrected their will, want to move to Catholic unity, should be accepted into their degrees according to the choice and decision of each the Catholic bishop governing the Church in that place, if this appears to promote peace among Christians. It is known that in previous times this was how this schism was dealt with, as evidenced by the examples of many and even almost all African Churches in which this error arose. This is not done in order to abolish the Council held on this issue in countries overseas, but so that it is preserved for the benefit of those wishing to return in this way to the Catholic Church, so as not to create any obstacles to their unity. Let those who, with obvious benefit to the souls of the brothers, have contributed in every possible way to the establishment of Catholic unity in the places where they live, not be hindered by what was determined regarding their degrees at the Council overseas, because no person is forbidden to be saved. In other words, those who are ordained by the Donatists, if they reform and want to return to the Catholic faith, let them not refuse to accept them in their degrees, according to the definition of the Council overseas, and in particular let them accept those who care about Catholic unity.
