Dimitrios Plapoutas was a Hero of the Greek Revolution, military and political.

Dimitrios Plapoutas was born on May 15, 1786 in Palumba, Arcadia, and was the second son of the klephtarmatolos Nikolas - Kolias Plapoutas from Sulimas Messinias. He became a charioteer at a young age and at the age of 17 he married Stekoula Kolokotronis, niece of Theodoros Kolokotronis, with whom he identified his military life and political positions.

In 1811, pursued by the Turks, he fled to the Ionian Islands, where he served in the English Army as a captain. The following year he returned to the village and took over as kapobasis for the Deligiannai. In 1819 he again fled to the Ionian Islands, after being accused of murdering a Turk in Alonistaina. In Zakynthos he was initiated into the Philiki Etairia.

During the Revolution, head of a corps and under the orders of Theodoros Kolokotronis, he took part in most of the operations (Valtetsi, Lala, Tripolitsa, Maniaki, Akrokorinthos, Patras, Dervenakia) and distinguished himself for his wisdom and bravery.
