Vespers of Agia Paraskevi near the new airport in Kastelli Herakliontranslated

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, the eve of Saint Osioparthenomartyr Paraskevi, patron of Rev. Metropolitan of Arkalochori Mr. Andreou, the Great Solemn Vespers was celebrated in Roussochoria Pediados, in the newly erected Holy Church near the new airport of Kastelli. Before the dismissal, the offered breads were blessed and His Holiness preached the divine word. He referred to the Life of the venerated Saint, while he wished, with the grace of God, that the Holy opening of the Church would be held next year on the feast day of Saint Paraskevi.

Among others, the Mayor of Minoas Pedias Mr. Vassilis Kegeroglou and the Regional Councilor, ITE Professor Mr. Giorgos Papadakis were present.

نقولا صايغI hope that the church will actually be inaugurated on the feast of Saint Paraskevi next year, as Bishop Andrew said. The blessed bread at the end always reminds me of the festive days in Tripoli.

Martin HorváthIt's nice that the new temple near the airport in Kastelli is already so far away. I remember how our bishop in Svidník always said that St. Paraskeva likes to be celebrated on the spot. The consecrated bread at the end is really good, I also bake it in our garden according to my mother-in-law's old recipe. I hope that the consecrations will really take place next year.
