Metropolitan of Thessaly: The Taborian Light and the personal transformation of mantranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaliotidos and Phanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheus officiated at the procession of Orthros and celebrated the Divine Liturgy on Thursday, August 6, 2026. on the despotic feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ, in the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior Livadion Petrilos. During his sermon, he emphasized that the Church calls the faithful to ascend spiritually to the mountain of theognosis, as the three disciples followed Christ to Mount Tabor, to witness His ineffable glory. Referring to the testimony of the Apostle Peter, he emphasized that he did not convey a theoretical teaching, but testified his living experience, as he was entitled to see with his human eyes the uncreated light of Godhead and to hear the voice of the Heavenly Father, which testified that Jesus Christ is His beloved Son.

Particular emphasis was placed on the true meaning of the Transfiguration. As he pointed out, Christ did not change in His nature, but allowed the disciples to behold, as far as they could bear, the glory of His Deity through the human nature He assumed for the salvation of the world.

The part about Peter not sharing some theory but his actual eyes-on experience of that uncreated light really stuck with me. Makes the feast feel less like a distant story and more like something that could touch us too if we try to climb that “mountain” in our own prayer. Thanks for posting the homily.
