Corfu Nektarios: Modern man overlooks his soultranslated

On Monday, July 27, 2026, the day on which our Holy Church honors the memory of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios went to Paxos, where he officiated and spoke in the celebrating parish of Agios Panteleimon in the wider area of Gaius. His Eminence was flanked by the superior of the parish, His Eminence Archimandrite, Ezekiel Vlachopoulos as well as other clerics of the Holy Metropolis. Also present were representatives of the local police authorities and a number of devout believers, who enthusiastically participated in the solemn Divine Liturgy.

During his speech, His Eminence referred to the life and martyrdom of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, who at a young age was called to confess his faith in Christ before Emperor Maximian. He recalled that during the time of persecution Christians were considered dangerous elements for society, as their way of life was incomprehensible to the pagan world.
