The Metropolitan of Petra in the Holy Church of Agios Silas in Neapolistranslated

The Reverend Metropolitan of Petra and Herronissos, Mr. Gerasimos, officiated on the morning of Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Holy Church of Agios Silas in Neapolis, in the "apostolic neighborhood", as he described this area, because of the Temples located there that are dedicated to the Apostles Titos and Silas, both disciples of the Apostle Paul.
Addressing the faithful, he noted: "The Apostles are among us, that's why we must honor them. But to honor an Apostle, we should know what he did. We are proud of the apostolic office and the apostolic throne, for the mission they carried out, the Temples they erected, for their deeds that we read in the Scriptures and in their Synaxaries. But apostolic office means pain, cross, persecutions, tortures, disapproval. But, through all of this God's grace was attracted and everything they went through, the sweat they shed and their blood that watered the places where they preached the Gospel, filled our homeland with a special blessing".
