August 3: Feast of Osia Theoklitos the miracle workertranslated

Today the Church honors the memory of the Hieromartyr of Rome Stephen and his companions, Saint Myrophorous Salome and Saints Isaac, Dalmatian and Faustus.  It also honors the memory of Osia Theoklitou the miracle worker. Osia Theoklitos lived during the 9th century during the reign of King Theophilos the Iconoclast and was descended "from the theme of the Optimates" (Opsikiou).

The parents gave their daughter Theoklitos a pious upbringing. With faith and modesty he unceasingly studied the divine word. According to the Synaxari of Osias: "Theocles show the call of God, Theocles appear in the flesh."

When Osia married Zacharias, a pious and merciful man, she emerged as a model of a Christian wife. Her home was constantly open to the unfortunate, to widows, orphans and poor family heads.

The end found her performing charity work. Her relic was claimed to be the source of many cures and miracles.
