With special spiritual emotion and in an overcast atmosphere, on the evening of Friday, July 31, 2026, in the Catholic Church of the Holy Patriarchal and Holy Trinity Monastery of Tzagarolo, Akrotiri, the monastic haircut of the new monk Gerasimos was performed by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou Mr. Tito. In his address to the new monk, His Holiness developed the deep theological meaning of the monastic state, characterizing the angelic form as a path of constant repentance, total dedication to Christ and unceasing prayer for the whole world. He emphasized that the monk is called to become an "angel", to strive for the acquisition of the evangelical virtues and to offer the greatest service to humanity with his prayer.

His Holiness chose the name Gerasimos for the new monk, connecting him with Saint Gerasimos of Byzantium, who lived and practiced in the area of ​​the Holy Trinity, leaving as a valuable legacy his education, training and devotion to God. He wished the new monk to always have the protection of the Saint and to walk in the footsteps of his faith and virtue.
