Aetolias Damaskinos: This Fifteenth of August is our opportunity for spiritual struggletranslated

The local community of Kyra Vgenas, which belongs to the municipal unit of Paravola of the Municipality of Agrini, was visited on the morning of Saturday, August 1, 2026, by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania, Mr. Damaskinos. Kyra Vgena is a small mountainous, picturesque and green village with few inhabitants, which is located on the northern shores of Lake Trichonidos, at the foot of the western side of Panaitolikos mountain.

His Eminence brought for the blessing and sanctification of the few residents and vacationers the Holy Icon of Saints Constantine and Helen, which contains an encased piece of the Holy Wood and is kept in the Sacristy of the Holy Metropolis, since on August 1st our Church celebrates the progress and veneration of the Holy and Life-giving Cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

In the Holy Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, he officiated at the procession of Orthros and presided over the solemn Divine Liturgy, while during the Dismissal he also performed the Holy Memorial Mass of a venerable Parishioner.

During his sermon, he referred to "the blessed period of the fifteenth of August, of those fifteen days that are dedicated to the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary...
