It is an excellent establishment that church property must be preserved for the benefit of the Church with all zeal, good conscience and faith in the all-seeing Judge God; and the disposition of them should be left to the judgment and authority of the bishop, to whom is entrusted the whole people and the souls of those who gather in the Church. Let what belongs to the Church be obvious and known to the presbyters and deacons surrounding the bishop, so that they know and do not remain in the dark about what actually belongs to the Church, and nothing is hidden from them. And in the event of the death of a bishop, neither what belongs to the Church, so far as it is known, would disappear or be lost, nor would the property of the bishop be affected under the pretext that it belongs to the Church. For it is righteous and pleasing to God and people that the bishop leave his property to whomever he wants, and that the property of the Church is preserved for her, and that neither the Church suffers damage, nor the bishop’s property is taken for public use under the pretext that it is church property, nor people close to him fall into litigation, and thus he is not subjected to disgrace after death.
