On the condemnation (eruption) of metropolitans who support the heresies of Nestorius and Celestius.
Since it was necessary that those who were absent from the holy Council, and those who remained in the village or city for any reason related either to church affairs or to bodily needs, should not remain in the dark regarding the decisions made about them, we inform your holiness and love that if any diocesan metropolitan, having departed from the holy Ecumenical Council, joined the apostate assembly, or will join after that, or adopted the way of thinking of Celestius, or will adopt it, then he can in no way undertake anything against the bishops of the metropolitan region, since from that moment on he is already deprived by the Council of all church communion and the right to officiate. On the contrary, he is subject in everything to the judgment of these bishops of the metropolitan region and the surrounding metropolitans who think Orthodoxy, right up to his complete expulsion from the episcopate.

Ἐπειδὴ ἐχρῆν καὶ τοὺς ἀπολειφθέντας τῆς ἁγίας συνόδου, καὶ μείναντας κατὰ χώραν, ἢ πόλιν, διά τινα αἰτίαν, ἢ ἐκκλησιαστικήν, ἢ σωματικήν, μὴ ἀγνοῆσαι τὰ ἐν αὐτῇ τετυπωμένα, γνωρίζομεν τῇ ὑμετέρᾳ ἁγιότητι καὶ ἀγάπη, ὅτι περ, εἴ τις μητροπολίτης τῆς ἐπαρχίας, ἀποστατήσας τῆς ἁγίας καὶ οἰκουμενικῆς συνόδου, προσέθετο τῷ τῆς ἀποστασίας συνεδρίῳ, ἢ μετὰ τοῦτο προστεθείη, ἢ τὰ Κελεστίου ἐφρόνησεν, ἢ φρονήσει, οὗτος κατὰ τῶν τῆς ἐπαρχίας ἐπισκόπων διαπράττεσθαί τι οὐδαμῶς δύναται, πάσης ἐκκλησιαστικῆς κοινωνίας ἐντεῦθεν ἤδη ὑπὸ τῆς συνόδου ἐκβεβλημένος, καὶ ἀνενέργητος ὑπάρχων. Ἀλλὰ καὶ αὐτοῖς τοῖς τῆς ἐπαρχίας ἐπισκόποις, καὶ τοῖς πέριξ μητροπολίταις, τοῖς τὰ τῆς ὀρθοδοξίας φρονοῦσιν, ὑποκείσεται εἰς τὸ πάντη καὶ τοῦ βαθμοῦ τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς ἐκβληθῆναι.
