Kissamou Amfilochios: In a society of violence, the Mother of God teaches us Evangelical resistancetranslated

The Reverend Metropolitan of Kissamos and Selinos, Mr. Amfilochios, issued his Circular for the period in which the Church will enter from tomorrow, the fifteenth of August. In his Encyclical, His Holiness refers to the contemporary phenomena of violence, the crisis of institutions and social insecurity and notes that "the Church cannot remain silent" about all of this.

On the contrary, he must follow the path shown by the Theotokos, who "teaches us the Gospel resistance: not to close our heart, but to widen it, so that it becomes a place of hospitality for God and each brother".

"She of the heavens above, and of the Cherubim within,

and of all creation more honorable, or because they exaggerate purity,

of the essence of the serpent born, in the hands of the Son,

today, on the feast day, a soul is offered,

and with her the universes of joy are filled,

and we are given the great mercy".
