Memory of Agios Panteleimonos of Iamatikos in the Metropolis of Messiniatranslated

With all pomp and ecclesiastical order, the memory of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon of Iamatikos was honored in the Holy Metropolis of Messinia. The center of the celebration was again this year the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimonos in the town of Diavolitsio, Messinia.

During the Solemn Divine Liturgy of the eponymous Holy Church in Diavolitsi, the Archdeacon of the Holy Metropolis of Messinia presided. Filippos Hamargias, flanked by the head of the Church and Hierarchical Commissioner of Diavolitsi, Archbishop Andriopoulos and vicars of the Hierarchy Region.

Before the end of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Philippos, preaching the divine word, referred to the correlation of faith and science, as shown through the honored Saint Panteleimon the Healer.

He emphasized that faith and the science of Medicine, not only do not conflict, but on the contrary, when they work together then man experiences miraculous results. As he characteristically said, "In today's age, a false dilemma is often presented: either faith or science. But the Church has never taught such a thing.

True science investigates the “how” of creation; faith reveals the “why”…
