August 5/July 23 – commemoration of the miracle of the appearance of the Mother of God on Mount Pochaev to save the Lavra from the invasion of the Turks (1675)translated

In July 1675, mortal danger loomed over the Pochaev Lavra, glorified by the exploits of St. Job. This happened under the Polish king Jan Sobieski. Let's talk about this story in the words of a historian, the author of the “chronicle about Little Russia”:

“Mohammed IV, the Sultan, intended to take revenge on Poland for the violation of the Budzhak (or Buchak - ed.) peace and for the defeat of the troops at Khotyn. I have heard about the Pochaev Lavra since I was a child, but I never knew that the Turks treated the Volos and Mikulin so cruelly. It is terrible how 50,000 cavalry started to trample everything on the way to the Lavra, and the Mother of God appeared exactly when she was supposed to. I wonder if even today in our churches we have such protection when hard times come.
