Cyril of Ierapytnis: Saint Panteleimon healed by invoking the name of Christtranslated

On the evening of Sunday, July 26, 2025, the Great Solemn Vespers of the Feast of the Holy Glorious Great Martyr Panteleimon of Iamatikos was celebrated with special splendor and sanctity in the eponymous celebratory Holy Parish Church of Mavros Kolymbos of the Makris Gialos Municipal Unit of the Municipality of Ierapetra. The service was officiated by Rev. Metropolitan of Ierapytni and Sitia Mr. Kyrillos, who at the end blessed the breads and preached the divine word on time in the forecourt of the celebrating church.

In his speech, His Holiness spoke eloquently about the face, the many tortures and the martyrdom of the saint, pointing out that as his name testifies, he had mercy on everyone and became an imitator of our merciful Lord Jesus Christ. As he pointed out, Doctor Pantoleon, who inherited the Christian faith from his devout Christian mother, received the grace from God to heal the diseases of the soul and body and shortly before the dissection of his head he was called from heaven by the name of Panteleimon. He was educated by the physician of the emperor Diocletian Euphrosynus and the later martyr Saint Ermolaos, who also baptized him, and he belongs to the choir of...
