Having passed through the water like dry land/ and having escaped the Egyptian evil/ the Israelite cried out // to the Deliverer and our God.

As if through the dry land you have passed through the abyss of this world, O Pure and Most Holy Virgin, Mother of My Lord and Giver of Life. I, drowned by the waves of my passions and like a stone on the neck of those who have the sin of infanticide, I pray to Your Divine goodness: look upon my soul, plunged into the darkness of despair, and beg for forgiveness of my grave sins.

The hope is that your parents, O Virgin, will become Christians, as they relentlessly pray to God to give them a blessed child, bitterly shedding tears for their childlessness. But I, spending my days desiring and indulging in indulgence, have no joy in the gift of motherhood.

You did not doubt, O Mother of God, about the Divine providence, when Joseph knew that you were in the womb of a child and thought to let you go, but rather you strengthened your soul with prayer. You are the Mother of God, as you bore Christ the Lord Himself, you marvelously gave birth and raised you. I am not worthy to be baptized as the mother of my children, yet I entrust them to Your honorable Protection.

Do not weep for Me, Mother, seeing in the tomb, Your Son comforted You, when You fell from the Cross, You washed Him with your tears. But it is good for me to hear Christ’s words, only because of my deeds is the voice of condemnation of the righteous. Moreover, I pray to You: intercede and save me.

All generations of mankind honor You, Most Holy One, and glorify Your Son, Who hangs on the Cross, to Your mother’s care all the peoples of the earth have devoted themselves. Don’t stop praying to Him, our Christ and Lord, for the salvation of sinners who destroyed your children in the womb.
Truly the Mother of God we confess Thee, / through Thy salvation, O Pure Virgin, // with the bodiless faces magnifying Thee.

Not only the most worthy and most glorious of all mothers, but also the most honorable angel and cherub, the most exalted one. Be there for me, who have gone astray, merciful Mother, instruct, enlighten, have mercy and save me.

Enlighten my mind, darkened by mortal sins, with the rays of Your goodness, so that I may come to the knowledge of true faith and understand my fall. Having destroyed my child in the womb, I do not dare to look up to Heaven, but only for the granting of repentance I dare to ask.
Thy mercies are innumerable, O Mother of God, to the sinful human race, for this sake I pray to Thee: as unto a certain man of old, I go to do evil, grant me also an unexpected the joy of conversion and admonition of the Divine; As if I am sometimes overcome by the disease of drunkenness, quench my passions with the inexhaustible cup of Your mercy; For the lost are the Seekers, seek also me, who have gone astray in sins; Like the careless monks, take away righteous judgment from me and grant me joy and saving consolation, having asked for mercy from Your Son; quench my sorrows, with tearful repentance giving consolation to my sick soul; The Lord looked upon Thy humility and made the Matter of His Son, and also instruct me how to bear my cross with humility and thereby gain God’s mercy. Do I have no help for You, no other hope, Most Blessed Virgin Mother, Brideless Bride, for you preserve me and cover me with Your cover of endless goodness forever. Amen.
