Troparion, tone 6

The Orthodox faith is a luminary, / monasticism, the unshakable pillars, / the lands of Russia, the consolation, / the reverend elders of Optinstia, / who have acquired the love of Christ, / and their souls for Children, having believed,/ pray to the Lord,/ may your earthly Fatherland be established in Orthodoxy and piety// and save our souls.

Kontakion, tone 4

Truly wondrous is God in His saints, / the deserts of Optina, like the manifest helicity of old age, / where the God-enlightened fathers, / the secret heart of the human leader, / the people God's sorrowful souls appeared:/ they were instructed on the path of repentance by sin,/ those who wavered in faith were enlightened by the light of Christ's teachings/ and taught the wisdom of God,/ to the afflicted and the weak he gave compassion and the gift of healing./ Now, abiding in the glory of God,// we pray unceasingly for our souls.

Prayer 1st

Oh, great saints of God, pillars and lamps of the Russian land, our holy and God-bearing fathers Optinstia, Leo, Macarius, Moses, Anthony, Hilarion, Ambrose, Anatoly, Isaac and Joseph, Barsanuphius, Anatoly, Nektarios, Nikon and Isaac, according to the law of the Gospel of the Lord God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, you loved and everything to the people of God for the salvation of the former; For this reason, under the protection of the Most Holy Lady of Our Lady, the Mother of God entered the monastery of Optina, founded by a repentant thief, who came through the narrow and sorrowful path of humility and self-reproach until the end of days those who walked, who also received the grace-filled gifts of the Holy Spirit in abundance; old and young, noble and simple, wise of this age and wicked, none of those who are coming to you have lost their lives, none have been sent away in vain and inconsolable, but by the light of the truth of Christ all having enlightened and spiritually resurrected your neighbors as yourself, having loved them in your heart, according to the words of the Apostle, prophesying and edifying, admonishing and comforting. Pray to the Merciful Lord, into the heavenly abode of the prudent thief who has taken Himself with Him, to grant us, the unworthy, as a worker of the tenth hour, a spirit of contrition, hearts purification, guardianship of the mouth, righteousness of actions, humble wisdom, tears of repentance, unashamed faith, unfeigned love, spiritual peace and physical health, may you grant us grace through your intercession The Lord will give you a good answer at His Last Judgment, freeing you from eternal torment, and may the Kingdom of Heaven be worthy of you forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2

Oh, Divine host, reverend fathers, God-bearing elders and new martyrs Optinstia, who shone with angelic life on earth and glorified in the Heavenly City! We know that in the days of your earthly service no one was weary and inconsolable when you left you, for according to the words of the Apostle you were quicker to all: confirmation to those in doubt, consolation to those who mourn, joy to those who are sad, Forgiveness to the repentant, admonition to the sinner, healing to the sick. Now, standing before the Throne of God, look from the height of glory and visit us with your kindness, weak and helpless: seek the lost, gather up the scattered, deceived convert and unite the Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church; Protect those who strive in monastic life from all the slander of the enemy, enlighten their youth, support their old age, and maintain marriages in peace and like-mindedness. Hear us, Divine physicians, guide us on the path of repentance and teach us to walk faithfully in the commandments of the Lord, so that through your intercession we may be honored by the Kingdom of Heaven, together with you Let us glorify God, wondrous in His saints, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.
